RAILROAD SIGNALS of the U.S.

BEDFORD VA
RAILFAN GUIDE

Bedford is about 28 miles or so east of Roanoke on 460.

It is the home of the National D-Day Memorial, because Bedford lost more native sons than any other town or city in the U.S. on D-Day.  It is a most impressive memorial and I urge you to visit it if you are in the Roanoke area.  I found it to be well worth the trip.

The second point of interest is the old N&W railroad station, which unfortunately for now, is closed due to a rather intense fire on September 18th, 2009.  My wife and I were there for lunch 3 days before the fire, talk about luck.

As far as signals go, there are N&W CPL signals on both ends of town, with a passing siding on the east side of town.

As always, if anyone has additional info, please send it to me at toddgp30@yahoo.com.
