SWITCH HEATER
INDEX
This section covers switch (turnout) heaters, used in areas where snow and ice can build-up and prevent switches from operating properly.
Some systems use natural gas or
propane, depending on the availability of natural gas, and others are electric,
especially for transit systems where (almost) everything is done electrically.
Furthermore, some heat the rail directly, while others use heated forced air.
