RAILFAN GUIDES HOME RAILROAD SIGNALS HOME
One of the things I like about this chart, as compared to the traditional
rulebook presentations, is the way the indications are grouped according to
routes and speeds. In doing it this way, you can easily see how the
B&O system was pretty easy to interpret, despite their use of 10 indicating
devices - the four main indications and six marker lamps. A standard
three head colorlight signal pretty much accomplishes the same thing with
medium speed indications in the middle head, and slow speed stuff on the
bottom.
