The Homes of
Ridervale Rd.
Riderwood (Towson) MD

Riderwood started out many, many years ago as a railroad stop on the Baltimore and Susquehanna Railroad.  It steadily grew up to the mid (19) fifties, when most of the empty parcels of land disappeared.  Few empty lots remain today.  Two lots were created when a property at the corner of Bellona Avenue and Ridervale Road was subdivided, and the two new lots sold in 1996.  Houses were built on them in short order.  Riderwood retains a rural setting, even tho it is only 15 minutes from downtown Baltimore.  It is centrally located to many convenient shopping, eating, and entertainment experiences in Towson, Lutherville, Timonium, and on up to Cockeysville/Hunt Valley.  Towson is the county seat for Baltimore county, and we're five minutes away.

BELLONA AVENUE
Here are a few homes located close to Ridervale Road.

8116 Bellona Avenue
This is one of my favorite homes in the neighborhood during the spring.  You can see why!

8118 Bellona Avenue

8120 Bellona Avenue
Located behind this house, on Ridervale, is one of the few open pieces of land left in Riderwood big enough to put a house on.

8200 Bellona Avenue
Currently on the market for ~$700K.
Ten years ago, this house was sold for $350K.  The buyer had the property re-zoned and split up, and 8202 Bellona Ave and 1199 Riderwood Rd were created from the split.  The owner then sold the house for the same price he bought it.
After 9 months or so on the market, several price reductions, and a change in realtors, the home finally sold in Sep 2006.

8202 Bellona Avenue
Built ~1999

This house sits directly across from Ridervale.  Very nice presence in the spring.

This property, to the left of the house above, has an untold number of varieties of daffodils in addition to the azaleas, tulips, and dogwoods.  The fellow that lives here bought the house in 1951, making him the longest continuous resident of the neighborhood!

RIDERVALE ROAD
Ridervale Road is located off Bellona Avenue, about a half mile from Charles Street.
Houses on the even (west) side are bordered by the Light Rail line, which started out life as the second railroad in Baltimore back in 1831.
