One of the reasons I don't watch the news on TV, or read the newspaper, is because there is very little GOOD NEWS available thru either source.  Cable news is even worse, especially from the conservative programs like FOX, cause they like to really go after the stories and make mountains out of molehills.

Well, tonight, I overheard a couple of stories on one the of the major networks that made me boil for several reasons.

The first one is the lack of power in the Kansas City area.  It's been nine days since a winter storm ripped thru Kansas leaving tens of thousands of customers without power.  I'll give the power company that the storm "ripped them a new asshole".  But what I can't get over, that in the rush to get power back to the customers, they are putting the goddam poles back up instead of burying the wires so it doesn't happen again.

 Assholes.

It just ain't right.

What does it cost the electric company, AND the customers when this happens over and over again?  One lumber company said they are doing a quarter of the business.  And they are probably the lucky ones having any busisiness at all. What about the restaurants and shops (especially) at this time of the year that were depending on the Christmas sales?  Many will probably go under.

ALL BECAUSE THE POWER COMPANY IS TOO FUCKING CHEAP TO BURY THE WIRES!

And it doesn't just happen there, the Baltimore Gas and Electric here in Maryland does the same thing.... Good thing we don't get the storms like they do out there, although a couple of hurricane seasons ago, my ex-wife was out of power for SIX DAYS.... I loaned them one of my generators and it saved them

One other comment that I couldn't believe is that the power company said their customers are responsible for themselves while without power.... Great!.... Nothing like the warm and fuzzy feeling having a utility telling you to go fuck yourself, we'll be there when we can.  And they expect many of the customers to be without power thru Christmas.  Many people are already going bankrupt because they have to stay in motels.

I hope the CEO doesn't expect to get a Christmas bonus this year!!!

This country is going into the toilet because companies are putting more and more emphasis on turning a profit instead of making/keeping customers happy (that's a whole nuther subject, as I work for a major defense contractor).

It just ain't right.
