PS.... I will have to look up in my notes for the names of some of the yards I couldn't remember right off the bat.....

New Haven's Hell Gate Bridge in New York City connecting the Queens with the Bronx

Were now in Minneapolis..... BNSF's Northtown yard going north/south, and the Soo yard hanging off to the right

Saint Paul MN - The big yard is affectionately called Pigs Eye yard, and the smaller yard across the river from the airport is UP's yard - That's Warner road up at the top and to the left, and along it is a great place the CP let's you pull off and watch..... from here you can see UP, BNSF, CP, Twin Cities and Western, IMRL, Minnesota Commercial, a lot of lease EMD's, and Amtrak

Blue Island in suburban Chicago

Sunnyside yard in Queens NYC - ex Pennsy, and a lot of Long Island

Bailey's Wye in Baltimore MD - Riverside yard to the right, Camden station and the Howard Street tunnel to the north, and DC bound to the left...... the skinny north/south bridge crossing the wye is for the light rail (this shot taken while they were doing  the double-tracking in 2004)

ZOO Interlocking, Philadelphia PA - 30th Street station to the right, NJ to the north, Harrisburg and points west to the left

New Jersey Transit commuter train terminal in Hoboken NJ, formerly the Erie-Lackawana's terminal

Union Station in Dallas TX - Amtrak, DART Light Rail, and the Trinity Rail Express to Fort Worth

Ringer - DFW Airport in Irving TX

Tower 55 in Fort Worth TX (approx in the center of the photo)

Settegast and Englehart yards in Houston TX

Tower 26 area in Houston TX

30th Street station in Philly

This on may be tougher - it's the Amtrak station (red roof building in upper left) and bridge in Austin TX

I'm not sure if I got the exact photo spot (which you can't go there anymore or they will arrest you!), but this is up in Cajon Pass CA

Ex Santa Fe yard in San Bernadino CA, Cajon Pass is 15 or so miles to the north

New Metrolink commuter train flyover and ex-Santa Fe roundhouse/passenger train yard in Los Angeles (back in the early 70's, you could go strolling thru the yard without any problems!)

Los Angeles Union station and area - lot's of good photo places all over!

Amtrak station at the wye coming off the bridge in Vancouver WA - great place for 4449 pictures!

Portland OR Union station - on the "other" side of the river is another good place for 4449 pictures when it is leaving the station..... the railroad is on the bottom of the bridge

The UP yard in Portland OR

This is really, really hard (unless you've been there)..... it's in Beaverton OR - to the left of the end of the train is the Courtyard Inn - I always ask for a room in the back, on the third floor!

Amtrak station in Omaha NB

This is probably a really tough one too - depot on the left, Iowa Interstate yard on the right..... Iowa City IA

Cedar Rapids IA - with the UP runing east/west, and the CRANDIC going over them on the left side of the picture.... on the right side, the UP finally got to double track  the river crossing.... before that, it was a fantastic railfanning spot because trains would stack up waiting for trains in the other direction to go by.
